Star Wars Transformers!?!? What fresh hell is this?

Starwarstransformers
I would have liked to have been at this brainstorming session at Hasbro:

Okay, what do kids like?  They like Star Wars toys!  But we've thrown at them every possible Boba Fett plush pillow and  Luke Skywalker cereal product we can think of. The whole Star Wars schtick has needed a boost of energy for awhile now.... Hey, what about Transformers! The kids love those! What if we had Luke Skywalker's X-wing fighter transform into a giant robot that sorta, kinda resembled Luke Skywalker? Or a Millennium Falcon that turned into TWO mecha versions of Han Solo and Chewbacca?  How much would that kick ass?!?!  Boo-yah!

StarwarslegosSix months later, every Toys R'Us and Target in America is carrying these (click on the "Star Wars Transformers" link.)

I guess with the surprise success of the Star Wars Legos computer games, it was only a matter of time before other toy genres stepped in for a piece of the action.

COMING SOON: The "Star Wars Barbie Dream Battle Station with Princess Barbiedala and Ani-Ken Skywalker" will hit the shelves in time for Christmas.

Can I make the brash but well-meaning assumption here that Darth Vader-bot is a Decepticon? :)

I do have to admit that the Darth Grievous one does look rather sweet. But he was already a robot, so the fact that he's now a giant mecha just works a lot better.

Guessing that this has something to do with the CGI Transformers on deck for next year: http://www.transformersmovie.com/

OK. Even I want a lego Yoda + glowstick.
