It looks like plans are moving fast in preparation for the first multi-verse YearlyKos Convention taking place both in Chicago and in Second Life in August.
YearlyKos is an annual convention gathering a thousand or so people from "the Netroots community," a non-partisan grassroots political action community that uses the Internet and blogs for political change. As a video at the virtual YearlyKos site explains, one complaint about last year's YearlyKos was that many other people who would have liked to come were not able to for various reasons. So why not use internet technology to allow people to attend virtually? Out of that idea was born the SL YearlyKos.
The organizers promise that there will be in-world broadcast of the real world panels, in-world discussions and other mixed-reality goodness. You can register for SL YearlyKos at, appropriately enough, Progressive Island (teleport SLURL). There's a US$25 basic reg fee (payable in Linden dollars), which helps cover costs of running the event. You can also contribute more to the event if you can support at a higher level.
