HIV/AIDS education island opens in Second Life on World AIDS Day (December 1)

Karunasim2 I got word from Ricken Flow about Karuna, a new space in Second Life focused on HIV/AIDS education. Karuna is holding a day of opening festivities on December 1st - World AIDS Day. The program includes keynote speakers Pathfinder Linden and Michelle Samplin-Salgado of AIDS.gov, a story writing workshop with Jenaia Morane, and musical performances by Kim Seifert and Cylindrian Rutabaga.

Karuna is a word taken from an early Indo-Aryan language, meaning "the desire to remove harm and suffering, and to bring about the well-being and happiness of others." In addition to providing information resources, support, and networking opportunities, Karuna will be built around a Garden of Experience, where the experiences of those dealing with HIV/AIDS will be shared in a variety of formats including poetry, photos, music, and video.

Here is the teleport link when the island becomes public. For more information see http://www.karunasl.info.
