I'm very excited about this new silent film called "Louis," a fictional retelling of Louis Armstrong's early years in New Orleans, that will be premiering in cities around the US August 25-31.
The silent film, reminiscent of Charlie Chaplin caper flicks, will be accompanied by an all-star 10-piece jazz band fronted by Wyton Marsalis himself, Cecile Licad on piano, plus Marcus Printup, Sherman Irby,Ted Nash, Victor Goines , Kurt Bacher, Wycliffe Gordon, Vincent Gardiner , Dan Nimmer, Carlos Henriquez and Ali Jackson.
The film tour starts on Wednesday August 25 in Chicago, then hits up Detroit, Bethesda, New York (at the Apollo Theater!) and finishes in Philadelphia on August 31. Proceeds from the film tour will benefit the Providence Saint Mel School in Chicago.
Sounds totally fantastic!
