A couple of weeks ago, Miss Jeskat and I had the pleasure of watching Teatro Zinzanni, a long-running cabaret / circus dinner show in San Francisco. For those that don't know, for many years, Teatro Zinzanni has been putting on lavish three-hour shows complete with singing, magic, trapeze, juggling and more. It's very much an interactive, audience participation kind of gig. Some of my favorite bits were quick interactions with the cast members who move around the dining room, joking and doing tricks for the audience.
It helps, of course, if you get into the spirit of the thing. Jeskat was the most appropriately dressed audience member -- and frankly looked better than most of the cast members, as you can see.
Sadly, Teatro Zinzanni may not be long for this world. In early January 2012, they are being booted from their lovely digs on Pier 29 because of the upcoming "America's Cup" coming to SF. Whether they will find another place suitable for their needs is still up in the air. I personally am voting for them to come to Oakland.
Their newest and perhaps last show is called "On the Air." Appropriately, it tells the story of a local radio station facing going off the air because of lack of funds, and how the staff responds. If you are smart, you will catch Teatro Zinzanni before they are gone, or at least on hiatus for awhile. Yes, the tickets are pricey. But it's a great splurge, special occasion date.
