On Monday, I did an awesome bike ride from the Emeryville Marina to the Berkeley Marina and back. Part of the San Francisco Bay Trail, that winds it way all up and down the coast, it's an easy 10 mile trip that I highly recommend.

One of my first stops was Trader Vics, a famed tiki bar where the Mai Tai was invented. I'd love to stop in for a fruity drink sometime. But alas it was closed.
There were lots of great spots for fishing along the way. Don't know what was biting, but looked like a nice way to spend an afternoon.
I took a long loop from the Emeryville Marina to the aquatic park between Emeryville and Berkeley. Kind of run down and smelly, I have to say. But it was worth it to go over this cool pedestrian - bike overpass that leads to the Berkeley Marina.
At either end are these quirky sculptures showing various people engaging in protest, reading books, flying kites, bird-watching, and more.
Gotta love heavy machinery! I ran into these right on the other side of the overpass. Nearby, a man and his kids were sliding down a giant dirt hill, which looked like a lot of fun.
Cesar Chavez Park, at the end of the Berkeley Marina, seemed like an appropriate place to be on a Labor Day weekend! The park has great views of the bay and lots of places to picnic and relax in the sun. I saw lots of cool kites people were flying in one area of the park. Made me want to get one of those cool stunt flyers.
This anime-looking one floating near the grass cracked me up.
Made me wish I had someone to cuddle with by the water.
But alas , it was just me and the bike. And the afternoon was turning long, and I had places to be. So reluctantly I made my way back to Emeryville, down the trail.
What an sweet way to spend the last summer afternoon of the year.
